Hello, excuse my poor English, I am a new user of the French and German version of Wikipedia and Wikibooks.As a French psychologist I have written two books (in French) about "The psychlogy of the child and adolescent" and another about "The psychology of the adult".The editor has written in the contract that I can use these texts for teaching purposes (these book have been written for the trainig of social workers. Therefore I can give directly the French texts for the French versions of Wikibooks, and the texts can be translates to German ( I am a native German). But I need help for the writing of these books on the Net-pages of Wikibooks, where can I send the books to people who will help me??? ( after a car accident I have only one hand to write on a PC!)

And where can I ask for help to translate these two books into German , I am quite busy and I don't have the time to do the whole translations alone???

If you will provide a poorly translated english version, I may be willing to re-write it. Certain terms may need to be verified by a qualified person (i'm not qualified), but the subject is interesting enough that I may be interested. I'm good at re-writing other peoples work. Also, your contract needs to be examined, they may allow you to use the books yourself but distributing it on the internet may not be allowed. Before we spend a lot of time, we need an attorney to answer a few questions. Perhaps the contract is readable enough that we need not spend any money on counsel, or perhaps we can get one to spend 45 minutes for free if we find the right person. Don't let the legal crap discourage you.

Anyone who speaks French, please help! The author of this book has donated its entire contents to the project but I am trying to scan it in and do not know how to capitalize anything, and my spelling is even worse in French than it is in English ... --Karl Wick

I'll help out as much as I can, but one thing I don't understand is how spelling/capitalization are factors if you're scanning the whole thing (or even if you only transcribe it -- since you'd have the original in front of you).

Also, I'd like to put up an English translation -- is permission for that included in the donation?

Translation to English would be great! I could not be happier than to have you start translating this book into English. Spelling becomes a problem because the scanning software is not perfect and sometimes misreads characters. - Karl Wick

Any chance you can send me image files of the scans, so I can check the intended dates/words/etc. where they didn't get OCR'd properly?

My internet connection is a dialup so is probably too slow to effectively upload large numbers of scans. However when I have the whole book scanned in I could send you the hard copy I have. - Karl Wick

That sounds good, but for now I should be able to get the vast majority done without help of the original. When it comes time to iron out the lacunae and solecisms I can either let you know what to look up in the book, or as per your suggestion you can send the hard copy. By the way, I'm impressed at how productive you are on a dial-up modem! For what it's worth, in many regions a high-speed connection's not much more expensive, and in my mind is an extremely valuable service. - --Daniel 02:39, 3 May 2004 (UTC)
