Facts about breast cancer (this is just in Australia alone)

1. More than 9550 Australian women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year: more than a third (3300) live in NSW.
2. Currently in Australia, 100,000 women, their families and friends have had to cope or are still coping with a diagnosis of breast cancer and its consequences.
3. In NSW, more than 35,000 women are living with a prior diagnosis of breast cancer.
4. Every day in Australia, more than 25 women discover they have breast cancer.
5. Breast cancer is the most common cause of death from cancer in Australian women.
6. About 2650 Australian women die from breast cancer every year: nearly one third (900) are from NSW.
7. Women aged 50?69 who have a breast screen every 2 years can reduce their chance of dying from breast cancer by at least 30 per cent.
