DescriptionLight spectrum on a white wall caused by sunlight going through prism and handmade lampshade.jpg
Scattered resp. distorted light spectrum on a wall - caused by sunlight going through a glass crystal (acting as an optical prism) at a window, and then after c. 6 meters, through the lampshade of a candleholder having an irregular thickness. Size of this spectrum on the wall from bottom to top only about 7 cm, hence the image is strongly enlarged.
The whole phenomenon was not intended, but resulted coincidentally from the positions of the items in the room on a sunny day. Due to the earth rotation, the spectrum on the wall disappeared after only some minutes during which the pictures were taken, and was since never observed again.
The glass crystal positioned at a window, which produced the light spectrum due to its facet structure
A close-up photography of the cylindrical glass lampshade with the irregularities in thickness resulting in a visible ring-like structure, which warped the light spectrum produced by the prism (see left) c. 6 meters away from the candleholder
